2 lakh crore S-band scam is believed to be the biggest.

S-band scam: The S-
band revolves around the manner in which
spectrum for S-Band
frequencies was allocated by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG)
in its report indicated that the alleged deal between Antrix and Devas caused the nation an estimated
loss of Rs 2 lakh crore.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has formed a two-
member commission to
probe the matter.

2G Spectrum scam:
The 2G spectrum scam
involved government
officials illegally
undercharging mobile
telephony companies for frequency allocation
licenses, which they
would use to create 2G
subscriptions for cell
phones. According to a
report submitted by the Comptroller and Auditor General based on money collected from 2G licenses,
theloss to the exchequer was
Rs 176,379 crore.
The issuing of the 2G
licenses occurred in 2008, but the scam came to public notice when the Income Tax Department investigated political
lobbyist Niira Radia and
the Supreme Court took
Subramaniam Swamy's
complaints on record. A
Raja as telecom minister had allegedly manipulated
procedures in allocation of 2G spectrum.

Housing loan scam:
The CBI unearthed housing scam in 2010 and the agency said that this scam is worth Rs 1000 crore.
The CEO of LIC housing
finance, Ramchandran
Nair, and several other
senior officials from
various banks and
financial institutions were arrested for their alleged involvement on the scam.

CWG scam:
A number of concerns and controversies surfaced before the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi last year. It received wide spread media coverage both in India and internationally.
CWG scam has been
highlighted by
investigative agencies with seriouscorruption by the Games' Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi. Kalmadi's
several aides, including TS Darbari, Sanjay Mahendu, have been arrested for their involvement in the
scam.

Adarsh Scam:
Adarsh, the plush housing society, built on prime defence land has been constructed in alleged violation of rules. The building was
originally meant to be a
six-storey structure to
house Kargil war heroes
and their kin but was later extended to 31 floors without mandatory permission. Former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan is among 13 people named in the
CBI FIR in Adarsh Housing society scam.
